Environmental Specialist (Permitting)

In this role, you will be a part of the Environmental team, within the EXP Energy Services Sector, based in Anchorage, Alaska office. The Environmental Specialist (Permitting) will support all aspects of permitting, including National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) activities.  Responsibilities include: 

  • Assists with NEPA analysis and reporting, including Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments (EA), and Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) support
  • Leads permit application development including those associated with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), and National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS); state agencies including State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) and State Pipeline Coordinators Section (SPCS); and Borough and Local agencies
  • Supports coordination with Agencies.
  • Helps respond to Client and Regulator Requests for Information on permit applications.
  • Prepares and ensures overall performance and accuracy of documents for environmental services in accordance with NEPA and Federal Agency guidelines as applicable.
  • Independently researches and provides data for permit applications and EA/EIS documents.
  • Works closely with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) teams for geospatial data management, analysis, mapping, and reporting using GIS tools.
  • Supports preparation of biological assessments and other materials for Section 7 ESA consultation requirements.
Desired Experience:
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in environmental science, biology, natural resources, or related. Wetland delineation training (40-hour) and related environmental certifications are a plus.
  • 0-5+ years of relevant experience.
