A leading statewide trade association is hiring its next President/CEO. This is a rare opportunity to take the reins of one of Alaska’s most prominent advocacy voices—an organization at the intersection of industry, politics, and public trust.
 
They are looking for a leader with a backbone and diplomacy. Someone who can navigate Capitol Hill one day and lead a statewide campaign the next. If you have a strategic mind, a teacher’s touch, and a voice that can unite a room, this may be your role.
 
This is a statewide role, based in Alaska. It requires a flexible schedule, travel within Alaska and nationally, as well as active participation in legislative sessions, campaigns, and public forums. 
 
You will lead: 
  • Strategy and vision—steering the future direction of the organization and shaping long-range plans with the Board
  • State and federal advocacy—testifying with credibility, influencing public policy, and building bipartisan relationships
  • Member and Board relations—earning trust, managing expectations, and juggling diverse interests with professionalism
  • Statewide campaigns and public engagement—ideally including experience leading high-impact efforts with multi-million-dollar reach
  • Team, operations, and budget—overseeing staff, contractors, and day-to-day business with strong financial and organizational skills
  • Communications and public presence—serving as a confident spokesperson, media contact, and visible leader
You need:
  • At least 10 years in senior leadership, preferably in complex organizations, associations, or issue-driven nonprofits
  • Experience working closely with a Board of Directors
  • Familiarity with 501(c)(6) structure preferred
  • Demonstrated success in policy development, advocacy, or government relations
  • Industry experience in energy or oil & gas strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in business, law, public policy, or a related field is a plus
